What is biofideX and what do I actually get?

biofideX is a bioscience learning ecosystem made of three connected products:

• QuizLab — evidence-based interactive quizzes across biology, medicine and life sciences, with battles, badges and streaks.
• Scribe — long-form articles written by verified bioscience authors.
• Academy — structured courses and certifications (coming soon).

Everything is free to read and try. Creating an account is free and unlocks progress tracking, bookmarks, reactions and rankings.

How do I create an account?

Click Sign In in the top-right of any page. You can sign up with an email and password or continue with Google. You'll be returned to the product page you came from right after signing in.

Do I need an account to use biofideX?

Accepted Answer

No. You can read articles on Scribe and take quizzes on QuizLab without signing in. An account unlocks progress tracking, battles, bookmarks, comments, reactions, badges and the ability to apply as a writer.

Which product should I start with?

If you want a quick win, start with QuizLab — pick a discipline, take a quiz, see your score. If you want to go deep on a topic, head to Scribe and read an article at your level. Academy is coming soon for students who want structured, credentialed courses.

What kinds of questions appear in QuizLab?

QuizLab supports multiple question formats: single-answer multiple choice, multiple-correct-answer, true/false, match-the-following, and sequence-ordering. Each is scored and timed consistently so comparisons across quizzes stay fair.

How do quiz battles work?

Battles are 1-on-1 head-to-head challenges. You pick a friend (or any user), choose a quiz and a time limit, and both players attempt the same questions. When both finish, the result is resolved in real time and battle points are awarded to the winner. Invites can be accepted, declined, or expire.

How is my score and points calculated?

Your score is the percentage of questions answered correctly. Points are awarded based on accuracy and speed — the faster you finish without dropping accuracy, the more points you earn. Points feed your level, streak and leaderboard position.

What are streaks and badges?

A streak counts consecutive days you took at least one quiz. Badges are awarded for milestones like first perfect score, 10-quiz streak, category mastery, battle wins, and more. You can see your streak calendar and badges on your profile.

Can I retake a quiz?

Yes — quizzes have unlimited attempts. Your best score is reflected on the leaderboard, and your full attempt history is kept on your profile page.

How does the leaderboard work?

The global leaderboard ranks users by total points earned across all quizzes. There's a separate battle leaderboard driven purely by head-to-head battle points. Rankings update in near real time.

What kind of content lives on Scribe?

Scribe publishes long-form bioscience articles — explainers, study guides, research perspectives, and deep dives. Every post is written by a verified author and tagged with disciplines and study levels so you can filter to what fits.

How do bookmarks, reactions and comments work?

Signed-in readers can bookmark any post (find them in /scribe/bookmarks), add reactions (insightful, thorough, disagreement, etc.) and leave threaded comments. Reactions are visible to the author and inform our editorial surfacing.

Can I filter articles by topic or level?

Yes. Every post on Scribe is filterable by discipline (Molecular Biology, Neuroscience, Public Health, etc.), study level (introductory through advanced), and tags. Use the filter drawer on any Scribe list page.

How are Scribe articles connected to QuizLab quizzes?

Many Scribe posts include a Related Quizzes block, and quizzes include a Related Posts block. We match based on shared tags, discipline and explicit links set by authors — so you can read the concept, then test yourself, without leaving the topic.

How do I become a writer on Scribe?

Open the Writer Application page from Scribe and submit a short bio, your expertise areas and one writing sample. Our editorial team reviews every application. Approved writers get access to the Scribe editor and can publish blog posts.

What does editorial review look like?

Drafts are reviewed for clarity, factual grounding and reference quality before they're published. We don't require you to cite every sentence, but claims that carry real-world weight (clinical, quantitative, or novel) should be sourced.

What does the Scribe editor include?

A block-based editor with slash commands, inline formatting, callouts, images, code blocks, quotes, lists and headings. Every article gets an automatic table of contents, reading-time estimate and SEO-friendly slug.

Do writers keep rights to their work?

Yes — authors retain copyright to their articles. By publishing on Scribe you grant biofideX a non-exclusive license to host, display and promote the work on our surfaces. You can unpublish your own work at any time from your dashboard.

Are writers paid?

During our current phase, Scribe is a portfolio-and-reach platform — we don't run direct payments yet. We're designing a fair revenue-share model tied to readership and reactions for a future phase; writers on the platform today will be prioritised for that program when it launches.

What is biofideX Academy?

Academy is our upcoming structured-learning product: curated multi-week courses, guided study paths and verifiable certifications across bioscience. Unlike QuizLab's short-form quizzes or Scribe's long-form articles, Academy ties them together into an assessable curriculum.

We haven't committed to a public date yet — the content quality bar for certifications is high and we'd rather launch right than early. Join the waitlist on the Academy page to be notified first.

Will Academy be free?

Some learning paths will remain free. Certifications and instructor-supported tracks will be paid — we'll publish transparent pricing well before launch. Existing QuizLab and Scribe features will always have a meaningful free tier.

How do I reset my password?

On the Sign-In page, choose Forgot password? and enter the email linked to your account. We'll send you a secure reset link. If you signed up via Google, your password lives with Google — reset it there.

Google sign-in took me somewhere weird. Is it broken?

Accepted Answer

Google sign-ins now return to a proper callback page and then to the product page you came from. If you hit a blank page or 404, hard-refresh and try again — in rare cases browser-level third-party-cookie settings can interfere. Email us if it keeps happening.

Can I customise my profile avatar and banner?

Yes. Your profile page has an avatar builder (skin, hair, outfit, background) and a banner designer with presets and custom gradients. Both are shareable via the Share Profile modal.

How do I delete my account and data?

Write to us from the email associated with your account and request deletion. We'll remove your profile, quiz attempts, battles, reactions and comments within 14 days. Published Scribe articles may be anonymised rather than deleted where others have replied, in which case we'll confirm the outcome with you.

How is my data used?

We use your data to run the features you see — your quiz attempts power your stats, your reactions power rankings, your email is used for auth. We don't sell data to third parties. Details and your rights are spelled out in our Privacy Policy.

QuizLab questions go through editorial review for scientific accuracy before publishing. Scribe articles are written by verified authors under a published editorial guideline, and corrections are issued transparently when errors are flagged. If you find something wrong, the Contact form is the fastest route to fix it.

Do you use AI-generated content?

Scribe articles are written by human authors. AI tools may be used to assist with research or editing, but every published piece carries a real author name and passes editorial review. QuizLab questions are human-authored and reviewed.

Today: yes. QuizLab quizzes and Scribe articles are free to read and attempt, with or without an account. An account is free and unlocks the progress features described elsewhere in this FAQ.

We'll introduce paid options when Academy launches (certifications, instructor-supported tracks). Existing QuizLab and Scribe features will retain a meaningful free tier. You'll never be forced onto a paid plan for something that's free today.
